The Crux of the Matter

A miracle is simply something that occurs extremely rarely.

What does "rare" mean in the world of ELS's? 2 ELS's meeting on a grid are like 2 people meeting on a street.

We must understand the differences between the following 3 types of meetings on the street:

(1) Joe crosses paths with Dave. This is ordinary. It happens many times every day.

(2) Olga Tumbelova crosses paths with Melford Missinopolus. This may seem to be a rare event: two people with rare names. It is actually ordinary, when you count the millions of meetings between any two people with any two rare names.

(3) Olga Tumbelova crosses paths with Les Plack. As background, note that these two people were mentioned in a national radio spot (about people with names that fit their professions: Olga is a ballet dancer and Les is a dentist). This radio spot made these two people "famous" or "known" or "connected in a special way", prior to their meeting. Therefore this is indeed a rare event, possessing as it does a very specific and widely witnessed prior announcement.

[An important aside: there may be many other kinds of prior announcements, including a person who simply makes a comment to a friend. As Torah codes researchers, we tend to focus on items that are publicly announced such as the news, because we believe that these are likely to be found as codes, and they are of course verifiable by anyone. And, in order for us as researchers to verify that the code as a whole is real, we look for codes for the most widely known topics. There are not so many such topics, by definition. In addition to rarely occurring topics, when we have a whole series of rarely occurring ELS's, we have an example that is truly astounding, statistically and otherwise].

We now have the tools needed to understand real codes, counterfeit codes, and many other critical points:

If meetings of type 3 occur repeatedly, we have a miracle. Note that type 3 involves an outside source that singles out the exact people who are involved in the meeting.

Here is a whole set of type 3 meetings in one chart, from the Torah, involving very precise and specific words about September 11. First, let's look at the outside source for these words: relevant nouns highlighted from actual headlines in the popular Hebrew newspaper, Maariv, the day after 9/11:

Here are those same headlines, translated to English. The words to be searched for (in Hebrew of course) are highlighted. Green is for proper nouns, red is for the most relevant nouns and pink is for secondary nouns:

The proper nouns are not impressive as codes, but an amazing number of the other nouns are. In the same area where many previous twin towers related ELS's have been found, we see these nouns as ELS's. See the following two matrices (the first is for the most relevant nouns and the second is for the secondary nouns). Note that the ELS's are spelled exactly as they appear in the headlines, including the Hebrew words for "dead", "ruins", "horror", "airplane/jet", "attack", "destroyed", "twin towers", etc. [The very short words do not add or detract much to the statistics, but they are included for completeness].

This result belongs in the one-in-a-million club.

In contrast, the critics' examples in "Moby Dick" and "War and Peace" are all of types (1) and (2). While some of them may look impressive, they are all statistically expected and ordinary, as the critics themselves would tell you. And despite our constant comparison of the Torah to these and thousands of other texts, we also have never found any indication of significant codes in any text other than the Torah.

Similarly, almost all future predictions, from Torah ELS's, are of type (1) and (2), by definition - because there is no outside source to create a type (3) example. History which has not yet occurred, is the missing source.
